Online Showcase, September 2009

Our third Online Showcase featured comedy sketches and radio drama, and commentary from Gerry Stembridge in studio and Padraig Kenny over the telephone.

‘The Maroon Brothers Good Time Radio Show’ – Maccana Teoranta
A comedy sketch show originally broadcast on Newstalk, featuring comedians Joe Rooney and Kevin Gildea.

The Interpreter – Maud Hand
Produced for Channel 4’s The Play’s the Thing.
The Belfast police have arrested a Chinese immigrant hidden in the back of a lorry. They call in Brian, the local interpreter, to help with the interrogation. Brian’s Chinese is rusty, but gradually he gets the immigrant to open up and makes a personal connection. Then he discovers the man was arrested carrying a dead baby. This parallel event prompts Brian to re-examine his own family life.

The Irish Indie Alphabet – Tinpot Productions
A short form comedy series aiming to guide listeners through the Irish indie music scene, letter by letter. This is a work in progress and will be broadcast on Phantom FM.
