In our final showcase for 2009, we heard work from three producers who featured at this year’s PPI Awards. On the panel, we had Joe Harrington, presenter and programme director at East Coast and Pavel Barter, freelance journalist.

Our second online showcase featured work from Earth Productions, Maccana Teoranta, Zoe Comyns, Mary Owens and Digital Audio Productions. On the panel were Steve Canny, BBC Drama producer, and Davia Nelson of the Kitchen Sisters.
In our inaugural online listening session we heard 10 minute samples from three documentaries followed by comments from our panel in studio, on the phone and online.

A masterclass in the theory and practice of radio production. Topics covered will include: Mics; Mic handling; Minidisc –vs- Flash recorders; Level control and monitoring; Interior and exterior scenarios.
Declan Merry a professional accountant with experience dealing in the independent radio sector gives tips tricks from being a parttime producer right up to forming your own production company.
April 2008 we were very proud to host an excellent Masterclass in documentary making with the multi-award winning Kitchen Sisters.
In Nov 2008 we had a great session in Limerick with US talk specialist and author Valerie Geller. In this special podcast she gives the essential points on how your programmes can be powerful and matter.
How do we hold onto the copyright in our own programmes and use our work again on another station, in another country or in another guise?
What are the multiple layers of “underlying copyrights” which may exist in a typical radio programme? What rights do composers and performers of music have in respect of programmes which include their work?
Documentary making at its best Chris Brooks travelled from Canada to be with us in November 2007. He talks about his own personal radio journey, as well as the creative and logistical challenges of the radio feature.
Maud Hand did an excellent half day session on how you can write your webpages and all your business communications to create a better impression.
AIRPI hired media law expert Andrea Martin to draft standard contracts for our members to use in their agreements with broadcasters for BCI Sound & Vision projects, as well as for more general projects.
